In 1931, the last census that counted caste, the total Arora population had increased to 775,734, of which Hindu Aroras numbered 661,268 (85%) and Sikhs were 114,329 (15%).

Total (Khatri + Arora) in 1931: 1.291 million. (India plus Pakistan)

90% of it migrated to India and out of which 85% survived.

Total migration = 1.291*0.9*0.85 = 0.988 million.

Partition of India - Wikipedia
1947 division of British India into independent India and Pakistan The Partition of India in 1947 was the physical partition of the Presidencies and provinces of British India between the two newly-independent dominions of India and Pakistan and the division of their assets, accompanying the dissolution of the British Raj in South Asia .The division of such assets was on the agreed formula of 22.7 percent for Pakistan and 77.3 percent for India. [1] [2] The Dominion of India is today the Republic of India , and the Dominion of Pakistan—which at the time comprised two regions lying on either side of India—is now the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh . The partition was outlined in the Indian Independence Act 1947 . The new political borders notably included the partition of two provinces of British India [a] , Bengal and Punjab . [3] The majority Muslim districts in these provinces were awarded to Pakistan and the majority non-Muslim to India. The other assets that were divided included the British Indian Army , the Royal Indian Navy , the Royal Indian Air Force , the Indian Civil Service , the Indian railways , and the central treasury. Self-governing independent India and Pakistan legally came into existence at midnight on 14–15 August 1947. The partition caused a large-scale loss of life and an unprecedented migration between the two dominions. [4] Among refugees that survived, it solidified the belief that safety lay among co-religionists. In the instance of Pakistan, it made palpable a hitherto only imagined refuge for the Muslims of British India. [5] The migrations took place hastily and with little warning. It is thought that between 14 million and 18 million people moved, and perhaps more. Excess mortality during the period of the partition has been conventionally estimated to be between 200,000 and 1 million. The second figure is thought to be too low, though a lack of reliable data precludes a more robust figure. [6] The violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that affects their relationship to this day. The term partition of India does not cover the secession of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971, nor the separation of Burma (now Myanmar ) from the British Raj in 1937 or the much earlier separation of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka ) from the rule of the East India Company in 1796. Other political entities or transformations in the region that were not a part of the partition were: the political integration of princely states into the two new dominions; the annexation of the princely states of Hyderabad and Junagadh by India; the dispute and division of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir between India, Pakistan, and later China; the incorporation of the enclaves of French India into India during the period 1947–1954; and the annexation of Goa and other districts of Portuguese India by India in 1961. In 2011, Punjab’s population is 2.8 crore, Haryana population is 2.5 crore. And Himachal Pradesh’s population is 78 lakhs.

Total East Punjab’s population is 6.1 crore.

Roughly, Khatri/Arora population should be 3.5x from 1931 = Around 34.5 lakhs.

However, upper castes have lower birth rates than lower castes. Similar to how Muslims were 9% in 1951 and are 14% now.

Meaning, that most likely the population of Khatri/Arora should be around 28 lakhs today.

In 1936, Khatri and Arora were merged together as a single group and is now known as Khatri.

How many percentage of Khatri are Arora ?

In 1931, there were 776,000 Arora and 516,000 Khatri.

It is hence estimated that 40% of Khatri/Arora population is Khatri and 60% is Arora.
